Robert "Bobby" Elmer Timmons, Jr. of Hendersonville, Tn passed away peacefully at his home while surrounded by his family November 6, 2024.

He was born in the Shackle Island Community of Hendersonville in his childhood home on Center Point Road, December 1, 1937.

After marrying his high school sweetheart, he attended MTSU and worked nights at Gates Rubber Co. He graduated from MTSU with an Agricultural degree and later returned to receive his Education degree. He worked for Sumner County Board of Education first as a Math Teacher/Basketball & Football Coach at Hawkins Middle School, then he became Principal in 1972 at Hendersonville Elementary School (Now Gene W. Brown). He was Principal there for 38 years before retiring.

Bobby was a long-time member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Supervisor of the children's Ministry for many years.  He was also elected to serve as a Sumner County Commissioner.

In April of 2024 the gymnasium at Gene W. Brown was dedicated and named "Bobby Timmons Jr. Gym/Auditorium".

He came out of retirement to serve as Interim Principal at Whitten Elementary School for one year. After retiring he spent his time farming and caring for his mother. He has spent the last decade loving on his great grandchildren who brought the greatest joy to his life.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Arthur Pillow Gibson, father Robert Elmer Timmons, Sr., mother Mary Louise Timmons, cousins Louis Frazor and James Frazor, and brother-in-law Calvin Stamps.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ann Timmons, Sons: Joe Timmons (Tina) and Robert Timmons (Jana), seven grandchildren: Heather Alexander (Eric), James Timmons (Arianna), Elizabeth Seaborne (Alexzander), Bret Grizzard (Lindsey), Bryana Favre (Eric), Raychel Timmons and Kody Timmons, ten great-grandchildren: Luke & Leia Alexander, Raina & Avalynn Seaborne, Charlotte & Oliver Grizzard, Averie, Adriana & Elijah Favre, Kynsleigh Timmons, and his beloved cousins Louise Watkins, Arthur Frazor and Albert Frazor (June); and brother-in-law Murrell Stamps.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Church of Christ. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with a one-hour visitation held prior to the service at Hendersonville Church of Christ. Interment will take place at Beech Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Robert Timmons, Kody Timmons, Bret Grizzard, James Timmons, Alexzander Seaborne and Eric Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Timmons, Arthur Frazor and Albert Frazor.
