Robert “Bob” Poole, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 4th, 2025. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Bob was born April 12th, 1936, in Cheap Hill, Tennessee to the late Raymond Washington Poole and Lizzie Lorene Bauman.
He attended Isaac Litton High School and Belmont College before joining the Army. While stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, he met the love of his life, Gloria Minick and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. For 45 years, they owned and operated multiple auto auctions. He enjoyed old cars, flying, and spending time, especially dining, with his family and friends. His greatest joy was helping others. He was a member of Bluegrass Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher, and later became a member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted friend to so many.
He is survived by his loving wife, daughters, Malinda Barnes and Stacie Fisk (Jeff). He was “Papaw” to four grandchildren, Chase (Danielle), Joshua and Madison Gray, Ava Fisk and two great-grandchildren, Weston and Willow Gray. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Brenda Maddux, along with best friend and flying buddy, Mr. James Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sons-in-law, Charles Jason Gray and Steve Barnes, his stepfather, Maj. Thomas L. Maddux, half-brother Walter L. Maddux and stepsiblings Charles A. Maddux and MaryNell Murphy.
Visitation with the family will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Bruce Raley. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
Flowers welcome or memory donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the “Backpack Ministry” at Hendersonville First Baptist Church.
