Robert Emil Johnson went to be with his Lord & Savior Friday, December 2, 2022. Born on November 17, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he lived his childhood years in Big Rapids, Michigan. He is the son of the late Oscar Johnson and Elsa Johnson. Preceded in death by his brother Donald Johnson.
Survived by his beloved wife Patricia Anne Johnson of 62 years, Bob loved his family; daughters Cheryl (Johnson) Longinow and husband Nick, Lisa (Johnson) Smith and husband Jeff, son Paul Johnson and wife Kathleen; six grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Longinow & wife Tanya, Dr. Joshua Longinow & wife Dr. Allie Lamarie, Hope Longinow, Noah Johnson, Luke Johnson, and Isaac Smith. 2 Great grandchildren, Hudson Longinow and Ella Katherine Longinow. 2 step grandchildren, Kerigan Moore & Caelin Moore.
Bob attended the University of Michigan studying Architecture and ultimately graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in Industrial Management. His career began at Oldsmobile, a division of General Motors, in Lansing Michigan in 1963. After 23 years, he worked as VP of Materials for Coachman Industries, and served as Materials Manager for Pacaar-Peterbilt/Kenworth. He founded Johnson Technologies Corporation in 1987, serving as President & CEO until his death. He has eight active joint patents with his son and three pending which provide ergonomic Health and Safety solutions for industry. Ergobuddy products are used in 14 countries around the world.
Bob's family was his pride and joy. He loved the outdoors, dogs, living on the lake, boating and jet skiing. He was a problem solver, inventor and entrepreneur who was always seeking excellence and truth. Bob was a man of faith, courage and wisdom, trusting in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. He left a legacy of faith to his family and to future generations.
