Mr. Robert Joseph "Bob" Nelson, Sr. age 84, of Gallatin, TN, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

Mr. Nelson was born in Calhoun, GA, on May 25, 1935, the son of the late Ed Nelson and Violet Gray Nelson. He retired from Ford Glass Plant after forty-four years of service. Mr. Nelson enjoyed swimming, wood working, old cars, and working in his yard. He loved being with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Nelson and a sister, Sylvia Von Dohlin.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Nelson; five children, Russ (Debra) Nelson, Vickie (Garry) Lampley, Joey (Pam) Nelson, Lori (Ray) Peters, and Kelly (Art) Vernon; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., Hendersonville Funeral Home with Richard Gaia officiating.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at Hendersonville Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Sumner County 16 Volunteer Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075 or a charity of your choice.
