Ronald David "Ron" Baughman age 72, of Hendersonville, TN, formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, National Teacher Day.

Ron was born in Jacksonville, FL, on July 6, 1948, the son of Carl Reginald Baughman and Audrey Tressa Surles Baughman. While growing up he enjoyed playing baseball and playing the violin in his High School orchestra. He proudly served in the United States Air Force four years during the Vietnam War, as a Staff Sergeant Ground Radio Operator. Ron received his bachelor of arts degree from Southeastern College, in 1980. He was a fourth grade teacher for thirty plus years at Sonrise Christian School where he was known as Mr. "B." Ron loved the children and did many activities with them such as watching caterpillars turn into butterflies, picnics, and bringing his telescope to school to view the night time skies. He was a member of Sonrise Cathedral Church of God in Lakeland, FL, for many years where he served as an usher, sung in the choir, taught Sunday School and Wednesday night Bible study. For the last three years he attended The Fire Place Fellowship of Hendersonville, TN. Ron was an amateur astronomer, enjoyed riding bicycles more than 1,000 miles, and hiking. Ron was an avid reader, photographer, and videographer. Also, he loved to work in his yard! Ron will be remembered for his contagious smile and for saying "God Bless You" to everyone he encountered. In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his one and only brother, Reggie Baughman.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Clare Baughman, to whom he was married on March 23, 1996 while on spring break; four daughters, Sharon (Shaun) Young, Ronda (Craig) Santelli, Lindsay (Jeremy) Baughman, and Lerin (Jay) Gorman; and seven grandchildren, Logan, Jaden, and Kirra Young, Jace and Chloe Chowrimootoo, Everly and Levi Gorman.

Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, Armed Forces Day, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at The Fire Place Fellowship, 403 Walton Ferry Road, Hendersonville, TN.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 2:00 P.M., at The Fire Place Fellowship with Rob Tripp officiating. Interment will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
