Sam Venable

Sam Young Venable, Jr., age 83, of Hendersonville, passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

He was born in Talledega, Alabama on January 14, 1938 to the late Sam Young Venable, Sr. and Alice Mae Venable.

Sam graduated from Auburn University in 1961 with a degree in Aeronautical Administration. He married the love of his life, Mary Leah Albritton in 1962. He served in the US Navy as a pilot with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a pilot with American Airlines for 32 years.

Sam’s many hobbies and interests included spending time with his family, Auburn football, and golf. He was also an avid history buff. His dry witty humor was loved by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by children, Allison (Michael) Noble, Clay (Kim) Venable, Leah (Andy) Hohenbrink; grandchildren, Sarah Beth Noble, Molly (Jack) Purcell, JT (Emily) Venable, Caroline Venable, Emily Hohenbrink, and Drew Hohenbrink; sisters, Mary Catherine Addison and Sally (Nick) Porter.

Sam is also preceded in death by sister, Alice Marie Monk.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville on November 6, 2021 at 12 P.M. Visitation with family and friends will begin at 11 A.M. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville.
