Sheila Janelle Vance, lovingly known as “Grammy” and “Tooker,” went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2025. Sheila was born on August 29, 1948 to the late Richard Vance and Kathryn Hughes Vance. Sheila was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jon Vance.
Sheila is survived by her children, Jennifer Barnes (Randy Cahn) and Jonathan Barnes (Nikki); her grandchildren, Haley Barnes (Eva Barnes), Taylor Gouty, Monica Zepeda, Jared Swan, Jonathan Barnes Jr., and Jessica Barnes; her siblings, Lisa Kathleen Taber (Jesse Taber), Cynthia Lee (Damian Lee), Julie Vance (Michael Arboit), and Kelley Vance; her nephews, Jason Taber (Melody Taber), Chris Cox, Xavier Lee, Dexter Vance-Arboit; and her nieces, Sarah Berry and Kate Picard.
Sheila’s life was filled with faith, love, laughter, and the joy of caring for others.
A proud graduate of the University of Washington, Sheila carried her love of learning throughout her life. Her greatest passion, however, was found in the simple and meaningful moments spent with family. She adored reading the Bible, playing with her grandchildren, and nurturing everyone fortunate enough to be in her care.
Family was the heart of Sheila’s world. Whether she was gathered around the table talking, playing games, watching movies, or simply sharing laughter, Sheila brought warmth and joy to every occasion. Sheila was an amazing cook whose recipes and traditions have been lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren, keeping her spirit alive in every dish and celebration.
Sheila especially loved the holidays, a time she saw as both a celebration of family and of Jesus. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived each day with kindness, generosity, and gratitude for God’s blessings.
Sheila’s legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.
