Sherry Lee Freel, age 81, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on July 27, 2024.Sherry was born on November 30, 1942 to the late Lloyd G. and Gladys I. Ziegler in Ferndale, Michigan.
Sherry attended St. Timothy Lutheran Church and graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak, Michigan. Sherry worked at Detroit Bank and Trust in Michigan and Boyne Mountain Ski Resort where she developed her love of snow skiing. After marrying the love of her life in 1973, she took a job as the Assistant to the Administrator of Luther Haven Nursing Home. After moving to Tennessee in 1984 with her family, she worked beside her husband as a realtor until retirement. But her favorite career was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Sherry was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the Hendersonville Noon Sertoma. Her hobbies included reading, flower arranging and gardening, snow skiing, and socializing with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sherry is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Floyd N. Freel; and her mother-in-law, Gladys E. Freel.
Sherry is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Gary E. Freel; her children, Angie (Doug) Hunter, Eric (April) Freel, and Gary (Jack) Freel; her grandchildren, Cody Tittle, Lexi Hunter, Ethan (Kelsey) Freel, Hannah (Brett) Wilkins, Tim Freel, Emily Freel, Frankie Garcia-Freel, and Kate Garcia-Freel; her brother, Lloyd Ziegler; her aunt, Irma Pardon; and her cousin, Michael Pardon.
A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2024 at 11 o’clock am at St. Timothy Lutheran Church (650 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075) with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Hendersonville or the Humane Society of Sumner County.
