Nancy Sue Walker Evetts, a longtime resident of Hendersonville, died peacefully May 7, 2024, after a brief illness. She lived her life as “Sue” until her oldest grandson was born, when she became known to all as “Sudie”, a name originally given to her by her own grandfather.
Sudie was born May 30, 1939 in Robertson County, Tennessee, to Nancy Christine Randolph Walker (1916-1970), of Robertson County and Willard Bolton Walker (1916-1977) originally of Owen County, Kentucky. She grew up in Robertson County; in Dayton, Ohio; and in Nashville, with trips to Owen County. She was a member of the 1957 Springfield High School graduating class and later in life worked for many years at F&S Trailer Sales in Nashville. She joined Bluegrass Baptist Church/Indian Lake Peninsula Church in 1970 and remained a member for the rest of her life, most recently in the Friendship Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by eight generations of Robertson County ancestors, and by every best friend she ever had. Sudie is survived by her daughter Nancy Ann “Sissy” Armstrong of Gallatin and son Sam Evetts (Eileen) of Katy, Texas; grandchildren Sam Armstrong, Spencer (Brooke) Armstrong, Joshua Evetts, and Sara Evetts; great-grandchildren Everett and Aubrey Armstrong; friends Roger and Peggy Evetts of Old Hickory; and family-by-choice too numerous to name.
Sudie’s memorial service will be conducted at Hendersonville Memory Gardens (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075) on Saturday, June 8th, 2024 at 11:00 am, with visitation beforehand, starting at 10:00 am.
