Theodore Van Weber

Theodore Van Weber, born October 28, 1937 in Oklahoma City, OK, entered the Church Triumphant on June 15, 2025. Ted was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a brilliant metallurgical engineer who enjoyed hard work, tough challenges and laughing with family and friends. Ted is survived by his wife Joyce; children Monica; Ted Jr., (Karen); and Sarah (Matt); grandsons Ted III, Matt, Jason and Noah; and great-granddaughter Indie Mae.

Ted was born to Theodore Duane and Alpha Weber; he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Emil and Ella Weber, alongside his older brother Phil. Ted graduated from Tucson High School where he was a member of the gymnastics team. He met his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce, on a blind date while attending The University of Arizona, where he graduated Tau Beta Pi. They married on June 5, 1958. Together they raised their three children, Monica, Ted Jr., and Sarah.

Ted served in the United States Navy as a SeaBee. He worked as a metallurgical engineer for DuPont for 28 years, before opening his own consulting firm. He was a member of the American Welding Society as well as an instructor, teaching courses in welding technique and how to read metallurgical x-rays. He was a member of St Timothy Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, TN where he served as Council President and worked with youth. Ted was made a Kentucky Colonel in recognition for his work with several welding manufacturing firms in Kentucky.

Ted enjoyed solving problems, woodworking, and growing delicious tomatoes. He was generous with his time and money, always helping people in need.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 26, 11:00am at St Timothy Lutheran Church, 650 E. Main St in Hendersonville. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to his favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis.
