Thomas Malone DeMoss, III, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away at his home in Hendersonville, TN on Friday, May 22, 2020 after a long, courageous 17 year fight with cancer with his family by his side. He was born June 1, 1950. His parents were the late Thomas Malone DeMoss, Jr and Mary Starnes DeMoss. He lived in Nashville, TN with his family until attending Tennessee Technological University where he met the love of his life, Sandra Chambers DeMoss. They were married 46 years and together for 50 years.

Tom joined his father as the third generation in the family food brokerage business, T.M. DeMoss & Sons, which later became DeMoss & Associates. Many were inspired by his strong work ethic and ability to do a "proper" can cutting and still make it fun.

Tom was always thinking of others and valued volunteering with many organizations such as the Boy Scouts for 34 years, Relay for Life for 24 years, The First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, and Meals on Wheels.

As a longtime supporter of the Boy Scouts, he served as Cubmaster of Pack 407, Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 157, and led his two sons to the honor of Eagle Scout. He received many awards for his leadership in scouting including the Long Rifle and the highest local honor of Silver Beaver. He shared his love of outdoor cooking with his scouts who still talk about learning how to mud a chicken!

He lived life with exuberance, optimism, and kept everyone laughing all throughout his illness. He enjoyed attending the Tennessee Titan football games, boating and going to "the cabin" with his family and friends, golfing most recently with the Tennessee Traveling Seniors, trout fishing with the guys, water skiing and snow skiing for 50 years, and traveling with his wife and friends.

He is survived by his loving family who were blessed to have him 69 well lived years. His wife, Sandra Chambers DeMoss, his children, Jim (Lori) DeMoss, Julie (Tom) Foran, David (Amy) DeMoss all of Hendersonville, TN. He was proud of his grandchildren, Zachary DeMoss and Zoe Shaw, Libby and Leah DeMoss, McClain and Hadley DeMoss, and his favorite child their golden retriever, Lucy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Steve McConnell, and his sister-in-law, Ione Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Malone DeMoss, Jr and Mary Starnes DeMoss, and his sister Alice DeMoss McConnell.

He was a hero and inspiration to many throughout his life from fighting cancer to completing his bachelor's degree at the age of 69. He touched countless lives and leaves a legacy of love and commitment.
