Thomas Doyle Karnes

Throughout his life, Thomas was known for his unwavering commitment to those around him and for the values he upheld. He was the beloved son of Ann Leftwich, whose memory he cherished and honored throughout his days.

Thomas was humbly proud of his service in the United States Army, where he served his country honorably for nearly nine years. During his military career, he earned several distinguished awards and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, and the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars. The Presidential Unit Citation, one of the military's highest unit honors, is awarded for extraordinary heroism in action and reflects the exceptional courage and service of the unit with which he served. In his final tour of duty, Thomas was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, before completing his service in Germany. Though he rarely spoke of his accomplishments, he retired with a deep pride in having served his nation.

Those whose lives intersected with Thomas's will remember a man who exemplified dignity, stability, and respect. His memory will continue to resonate through the lives he quietly influenced and the standards he set.

A time to honor and remember Thomas Doyle Karnes will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, located at 353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, TN 37075. The visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow promptly at 2:00 PM, with burial services commencing at 3:00 PM at the same location.
