Thomas H. Strahan, age 80, passed away on Saturday, June 11, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Nashville, TN. Tom was born on August 31, 1941 in Baton Rouge, LA, to the late Robert and Irene Strahan. He was also preceded in death by his brother Glen Strahan and his wife of 45 years, Helen Strahan.
He is survived by his brother Jerry (Jane) Strahan and two sisters Joyce Goodrum and Linda (Kenny) Sides; his three sons Craig, Scott, and Eric; two loving daughters-in-law, Shannon Strahan and Olivia Strahan; his four grandchildren, Chelsea Garcia, Maleah Garcia, Miriam Strahan, and Spencer Strahan.
Tom worked in a number of professions through his life, but he was particularly proud of the time from 1961 to 1965 when he served as a medic in the US Air Force.
Aside from being an accomplished guitar player, Tom was a poet, painter, woodworker, and songwriter. In addition, he was known by family and friends as the guy to call when something needed to be fixed. He was generous with his time and his skills and his always creative approaches to problem solving. He was an avid reader of biographies and history books. He enjoyed camping, deer hunting, and the camaraderie of the fellas his whole life, right till the end.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Friday, June 24, 2022 at Memory Gardens of Hendersonville.
