Services for Walter Bryant Reed, of Hendersonville will be Saturday, October 10th at First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville, Tennessee with Rev. Scott Aleridge officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at noon on Saturday in the sanctuary.

Walter will be laid to rest at the Natchez City Cemetery, Natchez, Mississippi

Walter was born on October 6, 1961, in Natchez, Mississippi to Bryant and Jean Reed a day shared with his father’s birthday. He passed away on October 3, 2026 in Hendersonville, Tennessee to be welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father after a courageous fight battling Amyloidosis.

Walter spent his childhood in Natchez, Mississippi; Madison, Connecticut; and Powell, Tennessee. He enjoyed outdoor sports and scouting, eventually earning an Eagle Scout and graduating from Powell High School, 1979. Walter proceeded to the University of Mississippi, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, 1984. While at Ole Miss, he was member of the Pride of the South Marching Band. Following graduation, he became a Board Licensed Doctor of Pharmacy in the State of Tennessee. Walter continued to pursue his education and received his Master of Business Administration from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, 1990. He spent his career as a Kroger pharmacist in Hendersonville, Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Walter was a lifelong, devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, TN.

Walter was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Walter Jean Lamb Reed and his beloved sister, Janet Lamb Reed. He is survived by his father, Bryant Reed, Jr of Natchez, MS, and sisters Jena Wetzel (T.J.) of Suwanee, GA, and Jesselyn Reed of Pearland, TX. As well as his nieces Callie Beauston (Casey) of Cummings, GA, Catherine Reed Wetzel and Courtney John Wetzel of Suwanee, GA

Walter enjoyed his weekends cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels and spending time at the Oxford family home. You would often find Walter with his loyal companion Honey Bee walking around the square in Oxford and enjoying The Grove. When not in Oxford, Walter was often at Center Hill Lake water skiing. The change of seasons would send him to the Colorado Rockies to ski with an occasional Caribbean sailing vacation with his sister.

His 64 years on this earth were a gift— Walter enjoyed life and all life’s adventures one that his family and friends will forever cherish. Though he is no longer here on earth, his body has been restored to health.

The family would like to thank the congregation of First United Methodist Church for their outpouring support, the staff of Vanderbilt Medical Center and Preferred Care at Home.
