Wanda Faye Norton, age 73 of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 surrounded by her family. Wanda was born in Nashville, TN and was the daughter of the late Leo and Hester Reynolds Lanich.
Mrs. Norton is survived by her husband William “Butch” Norton; son Donald Norton (Rena); son-in-law Wayne McMurtry; sister Valerie Owens (Rick); grandchildren Ashley Shannon (Michael), Brad McMurtry (Marie), Dillon Norton (Savannah); great- grandchildren Kaden, Kooper, Kason Shannon, Elliana, Landon, Harper McMurtry and Lilah Norton.
Mrs. Norton was predeceased in death by her daughter Angel McMurtry and brother Lynn Lanich.
A memorial service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 4pm on the afternoon of Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Metro Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN. Pastor Ryan Hill will be officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the start of the service from 2pm-4pm.
Wanda was a devoted wife to Butch for 57 years. She was a Christian and served in her church for many years. She was employed by Vanderbilt University for over 43 years. She adored her two children; she loved all her grandchildren to the moon and back. She had a talent for crafting, woodwork, painting, and vinyl lettering. She also enjoyed photography, reading and flower arranging. She was always working on a project. She loved giving her projects away to family and friends. She loved going on day trips, and she looked forward to having lunch and dinner with her friends. She loved going to her grandchildren’s school and sporting activities. Wanda battled with stomach cancer for the last two years. Wanda will always be remembered for her quiet spirit, giving and loving heart. IN lieu of floral tributes the family has requested that donations be made to Alive Hospice or Metro Baptist Church.
