Wanda "June" Coats

Wanda “June” Coats, age 80, went to her heavenly home on the beautiful Sabbath of January 30, 2022. She was born on April 1, 1941, and raised in Stewart County, TN where she met the love of her life, Glenn Coats, Sr. Shortly after her wedding to Glenn, they moved to the Nashville area where she devoted her life to taking care of her husband and raising their four children, Glenn Jr., Glenda, Sherri and Teresa.

Family was of the utmost importance to June, second to her love and devotion to God. She spent a lot of time speaking of her love of the Lord and was the ultimate prayer warrior for her children and grandchildren. Besides family and faith, one of her great passions was gardening. She was known for her beautiful flowers and gardens at every season of the year. She was always sharing her flowers and plants with family and friends for their own gardens. One way she showed love was baking for others, especially her homemade pies. Many family and friends have received one throughout the years. Her fudge pie was a favorite among her grandchildren especially.

June was also an avid animal lover. Her heart for animals was passed down to her children and grandchildren. She loved dogs and cats but was partial to her fluffy feline friends. She lost her sweet Jingles last year but continued to feed and love on several homeless cats.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings and her beloved husband, Glenn Edwin Coats Sr. She is survived by son Glenn Coats, Jr (Jessica) and daughters Glenda Messer (Robert), Sherri Helton (Johnny) and Teresa Vaughan (Steve); and 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services to celebrate June’s life will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Hendersonville Memorial Garden’s and Funeral Home with Brother Larry Gilmore officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the start of the service from 10am-12pm.

She was much loved and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in June’s memory to the Sumner County Humane Society.
