William Abell

William “Papa Bill” Abell, age 85 of Hendersonville, peacefully passed from this life on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Papa Bill was born June 25th, 1937 in Columbus, KY to the late Leonard Abell and Claudia Joyner Abell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Abell. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, LeAnne Abell, sons Steve Abell (Gina) of Greenbrier, Mike Abell (Angie) of White House, Mark Abell (Christy) of White House, and daughters Tiffany Toney (Jay) of Hendersonville and Jinger Rainwater (Ray) of Bethpage. Papa Bill has 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Papa’s greatest love was being with his family. He was so loved by his family and in his huge heart had plenty of love to give back to all of them.  Outside of being with his family, Papa’s greatest joys were found in playing with, riding, or repairing anything that had a motor and wheels. Papa also loved traveling with his wife LeAnne on their motorcycle, restoring old tractors, listening to gospel music, and as anyone who knew would attest - talking with people. Papa never met a stranger, and we know he will be welcomed in heaven by so many he has met along the way.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. William “Papa Bill” Abell will be held  at 1pm on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11am until the start of the service. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Capstone for the love and care that they gave “Papa Bill” over these last few months. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Adoration Hospice Care.
