William Lee "Bill" Pirtle, 72, of Castalian Springs, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents; Vester and Dean Pirtle along with sisters; Janet Shepard, Mary Elliott and Sylvia Pirtle. Bill is survived by his wife, Faye, of 49 years, daughters; Christy Maxwell and Tonya McEwen, granddaughters; Neeli and Lanie McEwen, brother, Elijah "Junior" Pirtle (Kay), sisters; Mable Powell (Billy) and Jeanie Whitesell (Hank), four nieces, 4 nephews and many extended family and friends.

Bill was born on March 14, 1948 in Franklin, Kentucky to Vester and Dean Pirtle. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a shop foreman and mill worker for RJ Wherry & Associates and Woodbine Mill. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, traveling in his RV, favorite destination being Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains and taking meticulous care of his yard. Bill's family describes him as being generous, always willing to help someone in need and a loyal, caring and loving family man who was a hero to his family.

A Celebration of Life service for Bill will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:00 PM, Pastor Mike Tidwell presiding. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 1st from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and again one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial with Military Honors will be held following the service.

Social distancing and gathering limits will be observed.
