Lawton Derossett

May 29, 1956 — December 28, 2021

Hendersonville, TN

Lawton DeRossett went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. He was born in Rockwood, Tennessee on May 29, 1956 to Dallas Eugene and Anna Opal DeRossett. He was a graduate of Hendersonville High School Class of 1974. He met the love of his life, Susan Gail Faulkner, at Hendersonville Missionary Baptist Church and they were wed on July 3, 1974. God blessed them with three children. Audrey Lyn (DeRossett) Colston, Adam Lawton DeRossett, and Abby Lee (DeRossett) Woodward. Later he became the proud father-in-law to Keith Colston, Angela (Lanier) DeRossett, and Ross Woodward. He was blessed to be the grandfather of eight grandchildren. Emma, Andrew, Ella, Lillian, Dace, Gwynna, Myla and LeeAnne. He was a man who loved his Lord, family and dear friends. He was a wonderful provider to his wife and children, a hard-working man of his word and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. He was a man’s man, through and through. He enjoyed beekeeping, fishing with his grandchildren, being in the woods and camping at Willow Grove on Dale Hollow Lake, heaven on earth! Lawton was an employee at ABG Caulking and Waterproofing from the company’s early beginnings in 1973 until 2011 when he retired. While he was there he impacted many men’s lives and made many lasting friendships. He was a member at McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church in Madison Tennessee where he worshiped and served with his church family.

Lawton was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dallas and Opal, and three sisters, Bonnie, Connie and Darlene DeRossett. He is survived by his brother, Dale DeRossett (Diana), and sisters Anita Kirby and Ramona DeRossett.

Lawton was a son, a brother, a loving husband and father, grandfather and friend to so many. He will always be held close and remembered in our hearts. To know him was to love him and once you met him you never forgot him. In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up for Lawton’s grandchildren. Donations can be made at Volunteer State Bank for the benefit of the DeRossett Grandchildren.
