We received another great nomination and story of someone who is giving care in a beautiful way in our community. Congratulations Mijo Roberts for being one of our deserving caregivers for 2020!
There are many special people who made a difference to seniors and their families during these difficult times. Caregivers come from many different paths. We always think of the obvious folks working one on one with our seniors, but I wanted to share a special story of a wonderful woman I have met during the Covid Crisis.
Last March after purchasing way more masks than I could afford, I put a post on Hip Hermitage on Facebook asking if anyone could help in getting face masks for senior citizens. A wonderful group, Masks for Mt Juliet and Beyond, contacted me and said they would put the word out. The rest is history.
There have been many wonderful women who have made face masks for the seniors in the local area and caregivers, but I have to share a special thanks to Mijo Roberts for not only donating, but going beyond donating.
Mijo has donated hundreds of face masks to our local community. We are not talking about any old face masks. She lovingly takes the time to sew beautiful creations with adjustable sides but even in themes like paw prints for animal lovers and masculine colors for men. As time went on, not only did she donate, but she started doing themed holiday masks as well. For December, Mijo donated 100 hand-sewn Christmas masks to an upcoming event at Charter Senior Living of Hermitage. Mijo gives so much care for seniors in the community by helping keep them safe from the virus in a year like no other.
Thank you Mijo for all of the love and special care you have given to our community!
